Job Summary
As a Strategic Sourcing Leader, you’ll be at the heart of shaping procurement strategies for life saving medical products and key commodities. Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement, you’ll collaborate with Engineering and Operations leads to drive productivity, align sourcing strategies with business goals. From managing supplier relationships to driving innovation, your role will be critical in ensuring excellence at every stage of the product lifecycle.
Job Details/Responsibilities
- Be the Voice of Procurement: Represent the procurement function in cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with the company’s bold vision.
- Collaborate for Success: Partner with cross-functional team members, including Supplier Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Marketing, to ensure alignment in supplier selection, component release, and driving supplier KPIs.
- Cultivate Relationships: Build and nurture strategic partnerships with suppliers, including commodities, contract manufacturers (CMOs) and equipment suppliers, to unlock innovation and mutual success.
- Champion Negotiations: Negotiate contracts with insight and precision, turning every discussion into an opportunity for structural cost improvements and supply chain security.
- Productivity Champion: Lead Cost workshops to drive breakthrough ideas in product design, materials, and manufacturing processes. Build and lead execution of multi- year productivity funnel to drive cost down.
- Foster Sustainability: Implement sourcing strategies that prioritize environmental and social responsibility, leaving a positive footprint.
- Mitigate Risks: Proactively identify and address supplier-related risks – cost, quality, and delivery – ensuring resilience across the supply chain.
- Embrace Technology: Introduce cutting-edge materials and technologies to our Engineering teams for new and existing products.
- Think Big: Develop and deploy commodity strategies while guiding make-or-buy decisions that balance innovation with cost-efficiency.
- Be Agile: Build a supplier base that is resilient, adaptable, and ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
- Travel with Purpose: Engage with suppliers and teams worldwide (10-25% travel) to deepen relationships and drive initiatives forward.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
- Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and market insights to drive decision-making. You are open to new ideas and believe in continuous learning to develop new competencies. Ability to think and work independently and anticipate changing business, project, and supplier needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
- Six Sigma Blackbelt or Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Plan (APQP), including compliance and sustainability aspects
- Motivated, self-driven with a determination to succeed and the ability to manage change.
Qualifications/ Background Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, Procurement engineering, supplier management, or related roles, preferably in a technology-driven industry.
- Proven track record of success in driving procurement strategy and managing supplier relationships.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes for commodities such as Metals, Plastics, Extrusion, Chemicals, Hardware, Sterilization, resins, etc.
