Job Summary

The Territory Support Team Lead acts as a liaison between the TSS team and management, ensuring optimal performance, training, and support for field sales teams. This role may be responsible for overseeing daily operations and task execution of a team of Territory Support Specialists (TSS) within Terumo Interventional Systems (TIS) and Terumo Aortic (TA). The Team Lead will serve as the first point of contact for the TSS team to provide mentoring, coordinate workload distribution, and escalate issues as needed to drive operational efficiency, customer satisfaction and meet area sales targets.

Job Details/Responsibilities

  1. Maintain Territory Support responsibilities for one sales area (TIS or TA) as assigned by the Manager.
  1. Identify and escalate process gaps or system issues to the TSS Manager.
  1. Support the execution of sales initiatives, customer/sales reporting and back-order or contract-related tasks as assigned.
  1. Participate in Regional, Territory and National sales meetings as directed by the Manager to assure strong alignment and collaboration with Sales and Marketing. 
  1. Manage CAPS & PIF processes, including helping manage qualified bulk requests, SWAPS, Consignment Buy-outs
  1. Work with Product Management to maintain current cross-reference data as assigned.
  1. Responsible for special projects and for ongoing process improvement efforts as needed via MBO’s and other commercially focused projects.
  1. Provide day-to-day support, oversight, and direction to the TSS team, ensuring timely completion of operational tasks and support requests.
    1. Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new TSS team members
    2. Serve as a subject matter expert and first point of contact for questions regarding policies, procedures, systems, and issue resolution.
    3. Works with the Territory Support Manager to provide input on individual development plans, developmental opportunities, and facilitate team meetings.
    4. Make recommendations to the Manager on ways to improve team performance, e.g. training, process improvements.
  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Must demonstrate a solid grasp and application of the sales process, including handling all types of objections and probing to uncover unmet and existing needs.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all internal and field associates.
  • Must speak clearly, have a strong telephone presence, and assert oneself with a sense of confidence, conviction, and enthusiasm.
  • Must be able to handle rejection and learn to adopt alternative approaches.
  • Must possess a sense of urgency, ability to meet deadlines and function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance.
  • Understand and adhere to regulations regarding proper usage of promotional materials.
  • Must be highly organized with ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining composure and professionalism.

Proficient in Microsoft Office software especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and possess an ability to learn new software.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline with 4 years of experience in a customer-facing environment demonstrating customer interaction or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience required. 
  • 2 years of experience in healthcare operations, Sales or Marketing, preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding peers; prior supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.

Experience working in a regulated environment is preferred.
