Job Summary

The Senior Compliance Manager –Monitoring & Transparency, will support the Director – Healthcare Compliance of Terumo Americas Holding and its managed businesses to develop and implement an effective compliance monitoring and testing program in accordance with best practices, Department of Justice (DOJ) most recent guidance, U.S. ethical industry codes and applicable laws and regulations as well as managing and coordinating Transparency requirements across multiple businesses.  

Responsibilities will encompass a broad range of areas related to compliance, including the development and implementation of a monitoring and testing program, managing compliance with all Federal and State transparency reporting obligations, and measuring the effectiveness of the compliance program. The Senior Compliance Manager –Monitoring & Transparency will act as the subject matter expert in areas such as: transparency, monitoring & testing, risk assessment, remediation, and data analytics.
 

Job Details/Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes continuous risk-based monitoring, testing and auditing program on key risk areas of the compliance program and other processes identified as high-risk business interactions. Maintains proper monitoring, testing and audit workpapers, prepares relevant reports and analytics, develops remediation plans, and provides training and re-training to associates, as needed.
  • Leverages data analytics tools and create reports for senior management to create efficiencies in the compliance program and track its effectiveness. Develops insightful dashboards and heatmaps with identified KPIs to inform senior management on a regular basis. 
  • Assists the Director – Healthcare Compliance in partnering with key levels of divisional business functions to conduct and expand the Healthcare Compliance risk assessment. 
  • Manages the Federal and State Reporting program for the company. Collects and cleanses data on a quarterly basis, prepares annual federal and state transparency reporting, and manages reporting functions in (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Performs analytics on CMS available data and provides meaningful insights to senior leaders.
  • Acts in partnership with the business to enhance cross-departmental collaborations in furtherance of an effective compliance program that address business needs as they evolve.
  • Develops strong relationships throughout area of responsibility to foster an advisory and collaborative approach to proactive compliance. 
  • Proposes, prepares, and implements innovative ways to create efficiencies within the compliance program, processes, and/or systems based on risk assessment findings, monitoring and testing remediation actions and Internal Audit results.
  • Develops proactive guidance to support associates’ compliance with company’s requirements. Identifies creative ways to use real-life examples to continue to enhance awareness of compliance risks and to boost a working environment where decisions are driven by integrity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Ability to use advanced analytical tools such as PowerBI to generate analytical observations.
  • Expert in SAP, Concur and ability to collect and analyze data through various data sources, including but not limited to, contract management systems, ERPs etc. 
  • Ethical, with a strong understanding of compliance risks and a good sense for practical solutions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with associates at all levels in all departments.

  • Extensive knowledge of laws (FD&CA, Anti-kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, HIPAA, Sunshine Act, and State transparency laws), regulations, industry guidance including Advamed and/or PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, and best practices regarding compliant sales, marketing, and medical activities is preferred. 
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, Power BI, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Concur, JD Edwards)

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years monitoring and transparency compliance experience in the medical device, healthcare or pharmaceutical industry required or equivalent combination of education and prior work experience. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and/or Compliance Certification a strong plus. 
  • Strong experience with data analytics tools with the ability to use and interpret data in compliance or business function, and/or in the medical devices industry or pharmaceutical. 
  • Strong track record of working in a collaborative environment with demonstrated evidence of maintaining relationships and partnerships with peers and business partners.
