Job Summary

The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will be responsible for procedural development and implementation, analysis of work responsibility and work assignments, personnel development and performance evaluation, problem resolution and situational critical analysis.  The specialist will
support the day-to-day functions of importing/exporting shipments and support global trade compliance team, as well as cross functional teams, and any other duties as assigned. 
 

Job Details/Responsibilities

  • The specialist is responsible to adhere to global trade compliance standards, HTS code planning, valuation, origin determination, and CTPAT compliance
  • Acts as customer service liaison with Terumo affiliates and subsidiaries
  • Works with freight forwarders and carriers to facilitate import and export shipments
  • Oversees and participates in order placement activities globally, including entering and reviewing orders.
  • Contributes to preparation of monthly shipping plans collaborating with internal and external partners.
  • Interacts with various functional areas of the organization to ensure customer satisfaction in order fulfillment
  • Work cross functionally in development, improvement, implementation of global trade compliance policies and processes
  • Addresses customs compliance related queries from affiliates, internal departments as well as third party vendors while continuing to maintaining recordkeeping process
  • Maintains inbound database for US and Canada that contains data in Excel format.
  • Prepare internal reports for dashboards, KPI’s and leadership
  • Reviews vendor invoices and analyzes related data to segregate costs by business unit.
  • Facilitates information and documentary flow to Customs Brokers who will interface with regulatory agencies, such as US Customs, FDA, and other PGA’s
  • Maintains Import documentation and records in compliance with Customs regulations.
  • Contributes towards the development of departmental as well as individual goals and objectives
  • Support trade compliance risk assessments and audits
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Read and understand various US regulations
     

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
  • 0-3 years of experience in global trade compliance
  • Recent experience in an import/export environment preferred 
  • Familiarity with government regulations in that discipline
  • Experience in Oracle/SAP will be valued, or equivalent experience using other business software is required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft office
