Job Summary
The Principal Packaging Engineer is a recognized technical authority responsible for setting the strategic direction and vision for packaging engineering across the organization. This role provides expert guidance, drives innovation, and ensures alignment with global regulatory, quality, and business objectives. The Principal Packaging Engineer leads complex, high-impact projects, mentors junior engineers, and represents the packaging function at the highest levels of cross-functional teams and external partnerships. This position is accountable for the development and execution of advanced packaging solutions that support the company’s long-term goals for product integrity, safety, and market leadership.
Job Details/Responsibilities

Define and drive the packaging engineering strategy for new product development, process improvements, and technology adoption across the enterprise. |

Serve as the primary technical advisor to executive leadership on packaging matters, influencing business decisions and long-term planning. |

Perform as a Technical Lead on projects to lead and implement the technical aspects involving coordination with other departments, design, and prototype fabrication and/or testing of packaging. Projects & tasks to be completed include organizing and leading members of the Packaging group, planning and scheduling technical activities, coordinating technical resources (personnel, materials, time, suppliers), and preparing proper documentation. |

Build and sustain collaborative relationships with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and external partners to ensure seamless integration of packaging solutions. |

Prepare and present technical presentations to all levels of personnel in a manner that effectively communicates technical activities in an understandable way to the target audience |

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
To succeed in the Principle Engineer – Packaging position, candidates should possess the following KSA’s:
Demonstrated expertise in packaging development within an FDA regulated industry, with a track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
Deep understanding of regulatory, quality, and business requirements for packaging in a FDA regulated industry.
Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to drive innovation, manage complex technical challenges, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications/ Background Experiences
BS in Packaging or Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of experience with increasing responsibility in Packaging development in the medical device field; advanced degree in Engineering preferred.
Experience mentoring and developing junior and senior technical talent.
