Job Summary

The Test & Evaluation Laboratory Test Technician II position self-sufficiently supports the testing of devices as part of the product development process. The position is also responsible for testing support of competitor product evaluations for marketing information.  Assisting in preparing the lab for simulated clinical evaluations and new product pilot lines is also included in the position. An additional responsibility is supporting the acquisition, and validation of lab equipment.

Job Details/Responsibilities

  1. Associate is responsible to follow requirements of TMC Quality System; including but not limited to: document/data control, compliance with procedures, and change control practices.
  2. Perform engineering testing on prototype, pre-production, and/ or final design products.  Testing performed typically includes: Mechanical testing (Instron), lubricity/durability testing (OakRiver), packaging / shipping distribution, Dimensional testing (CMM, Digital measuring microscopes, Keyence, laser micrometer, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, pin gauges, rulers, protractors), visual inspections, leak testing (Uson, Pressure gauges), Etc.
  3. Assist engineering in developing test methods and support test method validations.
  4. Assists engineers with data compiling, test summaries, and technical reports.
  5. Use good documentation practices. (Maintain lab notebook, datasheets, and other quality records)
  6. Ensure laboratory and equipment are organized and maintained.
  7. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies.  Utilize SAP to submit purchase requisitions as needed. 
  8. Support other lab and department operations tasks as needed.

Rate of pay:  $53,000 - $79,000/year

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Requires a logical thought process and decision-making ability to make test acceptability decisions based upon quality criteria, engineering criteria, testing results, and product requirements. 
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • General computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records and logs.
  • Mathematical knowledge and aptitude, including algebra and utilization of sampling plans/statistical charts.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with operation of testing equipment (i.e. calipers, micrometers, microscope, optical comparator, Instron, Laser Mic, Lubricity Tester, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability using SAP Ariba order management systems or similar.
  • Requires the ability to solve basic problems and recommend solutions.  
  • Requires ability to notice trends and differences in raw data.
  • Must have 20/20, equivalent, or corrected vision.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience in laboratory science, engineering test support or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
