Job Summary
The Laboratory Operations summer intern will contribute to multiple initiatives within the Chemistry, Microbiology, and Sterilization department, supporting both routine and developmental activities and some key projects.
Job Details/Responsibilities
Chemistry Team:
- Mixing Studies for Scale-Up
- Assist in evaluating potential mixing strategies to enable larger-scale production (DS and R2P coating). This is to support an increase in coating demand for DS and R2P.
- Support studies and SOPs creation involving new chemical component replacement: K90 Evo for DS and R2P coating.
- Particulate Testing
- Perform particulate analysis using LO particle counters and Flow Cam to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Engineering Testing Requests - Support coating evaluations (DS and R2P coating) and IV/moisture testing as requested by Engineering teams.
Microbiology Team:
- Support I/E execution work for MCS validations
- Perform water testing on MCS equipment
- Prepare LAL samples for Endotoxin analysis
- Assist with laboratory maintenance and 5S activities
- Perform microbiological plate counts
- Set up and execute Gram staining for microbial identification
Sterilization Team:
- Support sterilization validation execution activities for Ethylene Oxide requalification and Gamma dose audits
- Support routine production sterilization activities including sterile release
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for supplier engagement and follow-ups.
- Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented with strong tracking, documentation, and follow-up abilities.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data tracking and reporting.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Professionalism: Demonstrates accountability, reliability, and eagerness to learn in a regulated industry setting.
Qualifications/ Background Experiences
• Current undergraduate pursuing a degree in Life Sciences field: Chemistry, microbiology, biology or biomedical.

Final compensation packages may be higher or lower than what is listed, and will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, internal equity, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
